Are bought IG followers real?

Many shops say their followers are “real”, “active” or even “British”. We don’t, and this page explains why: what those words usually mean, what you actually receive, and how to read the claims.

Bought followers are accounts that follow you. They are not fans, they rarely engage, and no shop charging pennies can promise they are real, active people in a particular country. Treat any claim otherwise as marketing.

Decoding the word “real” in shop listings

“Real followers” in a shop listing normally means profiles with a photo, a name and some posts, enough not to scream bot at first sight. That is a statement about appearance, not about whether a person picked your account because they enjoy what you post.

“Active” tends to mean the profile has posted or signed in at some stage. It doesn’t mean they will see, like or comment on your posts. “UK” or “targeted” means, at best, that the profiles have British-sounding names or a UK city in the bio.

Why the claim can’t hold at these prices

Think about the maths. A thousand followers cost around £10. If those were genuine people choosing to follow you, each would be paid about a penny for their attention. Nobody in the UK will follow a stranger’s account for a penny, keep following it and engage with it. Real audiences cost far more to reach, which is why businesses spend pounds, not pennies, per real follower on Instagram ads.

What you actually get

  • An increase in your follower count, delivered over hours or days.
  • Accounts that look broadly like ordinary profiles, but don’t interact.
  • Some drop-off over time, as Instagram removes accounts it distrusts.
  • From us, a 30-day refill to cover those drops.

That is a real change to your visible number. It is not a real change to your audience, and we would rather you knew that before buying.

Why we don’t use the word “real”

Two reasons. First, it isn’t true, and we would rather lose a sale than mislead you. Second, it matters in the UK. If you are a business or a creator and you repeat a seller’s claim of “real” followers to customers or brands, you could be making a misleading claim yourself. The UK #ad rules guide explains how the ASA and CMA look at that.

How to tell real followers from bought ones

Your own Instagram Insights (on a professional account) show where followers are, when they are online and how many of them saw each post. Bought followers barely appear in reach figures. Our guide to spotting fake followers gives a checklist you can run on any account, including competitors.

For a genuine audience instead

Genuine followers grow out of posting things people want to see, consistently, and from being found: hashtags people search, collaborations, Reels that travel, local tags. Our guide to growing without buying is a practical place to start. A modest pack can make a new profile look less empty while you do that work; it can’t replace it.

Asked often

Things buyers check first

Are bought Instagram followers real people?
Some accounts may be operated by people, but they don’t follow you out of interest and rarely engage. No shop can promise real fans at these prices.
Can I buy real active followers?
Not in any honest sense. In seller-speak, “active” rarely means more than having posted once.
Can I buy UK Instagram followers?
Nobody can honestly target cheap followers by country. See our page on UK Instagram followers.
Why do bought followers not like my posts?
Because they didn’t follow you to see your posts. Likes come from real interest, or from a separate like pack.
